Another day, another dollar and another post about Zooey Deschanel. I can’t help myself, and when I can’t think of anything else to write about, my mind turns to thoughts of frolicking with this fair maiden. But let’s get back on track. During filming of (500) Days of Summer, Marc Webb shot this short film/music video that features her and Joesph Gordon-Levitt dancing around to “Why Don’t You Let Me Stay Here.” Stick ‘em up!
Logorama is the Oscar winning short film by François Alaux, Herve de Crecy and Ludovic Houplain that imagines a world where everything is a corporate logo. In other words, a Sunday stroll down Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.
This is a really dope short film that shows off French photographer JR’s latest installation in Paris dubbed Women are Heroes. His work is best described as pictures turned into posters, which are then made into open-air galleries.
Speechless. This stop motion film from Rhett and Link blows my mind. Perhaps the old man is softening his views on Ironic T-Shirts after all.
And some behind the scenes of the two day shoot.
Spike Jonze’s short film I’m Here premieres at Sundance tonight. The movie takes place in contemporary LA and centers around a sad male robot librarian who falls for a free spirited female robot. Perhaps a sexy female robot who is sold as a robot concubine for sad and lonely dweebs everywhere.
I don’t know anything about the filmmaker, or how much time went into making this flip book inspired ode to parkour. Thankfully though, this idea hasn’t been stolen by a fast food conglomerate looking to “get hip” in their latest commercial campaign. Wait for it…
Undoubtedly, Vimeo is the portal for short films, music videos, and other treats that weren’t shot on camera phones and don’t involve kittens in any way. Check out a few of their top videos of the year.
BORN THAT WAY
Director: Tony McNeal
When ex-con and hard-as-nails, Jake Green, finally gets a chance to see his daughter after six months, he takes her out for a quick bite only to wind up in the middle of an armored car heist.
The violent incident leaves a lasting impression on his daughter and influences her choice to pursue a dangerous and lucrative career later in life.
On June 12th, 1970 Pittsburgh Pirate Dock Ellis threw a no hitter. That in itself is quite the accomplishment. But what makes this truly amazing is that Dock Ellis was on LSD. The good people over at No Mas put together a really well done short film where Ellis recounts what was going on in his mind as his thoughts went from that of Sandy Koufax to that of Hunter Thompson.

In celebration of the 35th anniversary of what is arguably one of the most historic sporting events of all time, NYC label/agency No Mas created Rumblevision-a set of three animated short films reinterpreting the fight between Muhammed Ali and George Foreman.
Ali, bomaye!
Infamous quotes from the fight such as “I’m so mean I make medicine sick” and “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” narrate the artistic films, each with its own active theme.
Arthur Metcalf’s debut film explores the the final minutes of a society of vocal bubblewrap as it faces its apocalypse. I never knew my idle hands were capable of such destruction.
