Anderson Cooper Assumes the Bachelorette is a Skank

I had no idea they still aired The Bachelorette, but apparently this season she took on a whole lot of “suitors.” Too vague? Okay, she played with a lot of man meat. Being that Anderson Cooper is such a hard hitting journalist, he decided to play the numbers game with her.

Seinfeld Reunion on Curb your Enthusiasm

After years of saying no to the idea of a “Seinfeld” reunion, Larry David told reporters why he conceded and wrote a reunion into the upcoming season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”:

“I always said no. We would never do that, it’s a lame idea. And then I thought it might be very funny to do that on ‘Curb.’ And I kept thinking about it, and started to think of different scenarios. I called Jerry, and Jerry was game. I called the others, and we did it.”  READ THE FULL ARTICLE

The 88 Record Hit Using Only iPhone

VIMBY friends The 88 recorded their new song “Love Is The Thing” using only the iPhone app Four Track.  The story has generated press and the song has become their biggest iTunes single to date.  Here are the basic deets according to their press release:

The 88 (http://www.the88.net) was on tour with the B-52s when lead singer Keith Slettedahl discovered FourTrack and realized it would be a handy app to have for recording song ideas while on the road.  Well, being a technologically savvy bunch, the band couldn’t leave it there – one thing led to another and a whole 16-track song was born.  The process involved a toy drum kit, pillows and a whole lot of innovative thinking.  And voila - within 24 hours of release, “Love Is The Thing” became The 88’s highest selling iTunes single to date.

First thing I’d like to note, and this always seems to get lost in these types of stories- the song happens to be a great track.  I’m sure there will be a bunch of “artists” who try to do the same thing, but before you download the app and start fantasizing about taking the stage at Madison Square Garden, let’s take a step back and recognize that priority #1 should be actually writing some great music.  The 88 are also experienced recording musicians.  I’m not trying to make them out to be U2, nor am I saying “don’t try this at home”, but in order to produce a track with half-decent sound quality, you’ll have to set up your dorm room to minimize ambient noise etc.  Check out the “making of” video which breaks it down simply:

All that being said, it would be smart for Apple to produce a series of songs from artists creating tracks using this app. This is one of the cooler examples of how the iPhone is reshaping how the cell phone is being used. Props to The 88 for trying something different.

Download the song from itunes here.

3 Things that Would Occur if the Internet Disappeared

Newsflash… lately our site has been functioning with the agility and gracefulness of a senile old man pumped full of Viagra at a sweatpants convention. With that being said… and imagined, I got to thinking about what would happen if one day the internet went the way of pogs and clear Pepsi.

1. The resurgence of the Porno Mag and Adult DVD Sales.  Let’s face it, a major portion of internet users are as familiar with youtube as they are with youporn.  Without the internet, people would be forced to get their “fix” another way.  Worst case scenario, people would have to start using their imagination again.

The Achievers: The Story of the Lebowski Fans

Eddie Chung, a former philosophy student who is accustomed to pondering life’s deepest mysteries, is still stumped by something that shapes lives by the thousands: Why has “The Big Lebowski” become the most popular and all-consuming cult film since “The Rocky Horror Picture Show?”

“The Achievers: The Story of the Lebowski Fans,” Chung’s documentary on this cinematic subculture, will play at the Laemmle Sunset 5 (LA) tonight through Saturday. This comes in the middle of a two-month tour of Lebowski Fests that included two nights in San Diego earlier this week.

The Big Lebowski works on many different levels, but at its core, it’s really the cast that makes the movie. Sure, there is a semblance of a plot, but this is one of only a handful of movies where every single character is memorable, thus securing it as a cult classic.

Trailer: Fantastic Mr. Fox

Another day, still no images are working on the site. Let’s consider this Friday a symposium on internet video, and I’ll be your seedy instructor. First on tap comes the trailer from Wes Anderson’s (The Royal Tenenbaums) Fantastic Mr. Fox, a stop motion animation feature based on the book by Roald Dahl. I’m not going to even mention any of Roald Dahl’s books because if you haven’t heard of him, chances are you can’t read, and have already clicked on the video. Happy video Friday.

Trailer: Dexter Season 4

Saying I’m excited for the upcoming season of Dexter is in understatement. Add Nancy Botwin to this show, and I’d sell my first born son Harold to Showtime for a sneak peek.

Big Papi Demands One Year Suspension

Remember back in February when David Ortiz made headlines for demanding that any player who tested positive for steroids receive a one year suspension? Well, if you listen to the fine print, you can see that he says this shouldn’t apply to actions in the past. Hmm, I wonder why?

Watching this video one begins to compare Papi to Mark Sanford, Mark Chmura, John Ensign, and all the other holier-hornier-than thou hypocrites who have been caught calling the kettle black.

Add Ortiz to the list of players who should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Williams and Maris…or Chipper.

ESPN Starting on Steve Bartman Documentary

Steve Bartman, an accidental icon of Chicago Cubs futility, is getting thrust into the spotlight once more.
ESPN announced Wednesday that it has commissioned a one-hour documentary on Bartman, the Cubs fan whose attempt to catch a foul ball late in Game 6 of the 2003 National League Championship series was cast as some kind of catalyst in the long-hamstrung team’s eventual collapse that year.

The revisiting of the Bartman incident and a look at its ugly legacy by Alex Gibney, writer-director of the Oscar-nominated “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room” and the Academy Award-winning “Taxi to the Dark Side,” will be part of ESPN’s “30 for 30″ series.

According to ESPN, Gibney will attempt to answer the question: Can Bartman ever forgive Chicago?

The short answer, Chicago can never forgive Bartman. But the truth is, he didn’t lose the game for the Cubs, I witnessed them fold during game 6 and game 7 like a card table. It’s not his fault, blame Alex Gonzalez’s gaff that would have lead to a sure-fire double play.

(sorry for all the vids, images are still non existent like Reno’s sex life)
